So I'm building a PC for my friend, he travels frequently between the US and Korea as well as LAN parties and such, I wanted to know what the best plan for building a compact PC would be. (laptop is out of the question) For the case, I am thinking on going with a Mini ITX platform, I think it would be cool if the case maybe had a handle on it but that isn't necessary at all. He gave me a budget of $1500 so I have a bit of wiggle room when it comes to this. I just want something with good reliability and can run games to full potential. I'm quite concerned about thermals for this build though, so any ideas there? I'm really excited about this build, so I wanted to see all the awesome stuff the LTT community could come up with!

I don't think I'm going to overclock here b/c of thermals, plus the games he plays aren't the most demanding.

You could overclock with this due to the watercooler :D

Silverstone SG13, and just an FYI, the SG05 is slightly smaller.

Now it will say there are compatibility issues, but LMG showed it clearly worked. (and the length of the card is 267 mm while the recommended max is 266... so yea it'll work).

Went with a Gigabyte theme,

I was going to put an I5-4690K in, but went with the 4790K due to how much room in the budget there was.

That case can support a dual rad I believe, but I went with a simple single rad. Although you could go up to a H100i if you want.

Motherboard is a gigabyte one with built in wifi. standard 8gb of ram.

120gb samsung ssd, 1tb WD hdd.

As for the graphics card, many will probably suggest an AMD one, but the gtx 980 is a great card, I have one in my rig and I'm able to max out about all games with no problem (with the star wars battlefront beta I had everything maxed out and was getting 60fps). Also the Gigabyte design fits the theme.

The case is one I would love to use if I were to make an Itx build. With the front 200mm fan, and the corsair 140mm fan placed at back as exhaust you'll get good airflow.

Xfx makes good power supplies, that one being gold certified and fully modular

I strongly don't recommend that case. Yeah it has a handle, but thermals and heat in it are extremely bad. A buddy of mine had that case and it sounded like a hair dryer with how much the fans had to work in it.

Yea... I don't know ITX cases, but that one is as expensive as it gets, so replace it with whatever you want and who cares.
