SO.

Ive had a Macbook Pro Retina for about a year now, and long story short the anti-reflective coating is peeling off the display and the trackpad is being odd. Fcking hate that since I do photography work and use my laptop every day hahaha so I gave apple a call.

They said its completely their fault, and I'm taking it in today to get a new display, trackpad and a few other things patched up free of charge.

So far Im super impressed with customer service from Apple, dealing with a lot of other companies that were difficult, I was kind of hardwired to expect them to make my life hard.

**Update 1**

Macs in the shop, they said it should be done by Monday or Tuesday.
They're replacing the entire display and the battery and mousepad upper assembly free of charge :D
Now I just dont have my laptop for a while :P But ay maybe this will motivate me to upgrade my PC here haha

Apple support is one of the few support teams that I don't mind having to deal with (whereas I dread almost every other support experience). Not that I have to deal with them very often.

With that said, it wasn't until recently that Apple acknowledged and started to replace the anti reflective coating the retina Macs.

I'm glad they aren't making things difficult for you. I've never used apple support, but I have heard good things from those who have.

@Stupidtiggers , they've posted somewhere before that they will repair this free of charge because it's a known issue. Saw it on reddit but can't find it anymore

EDIT: https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/3p4bep/apple_launches_quality_program_for_macbook_pro/

found it

Opposite experience for me. Hard drive died on my $2500 iMac and they wanted $600 + tax to replace it out of warranty (parts are under $100 on amazon/newegg).  And they make it next to impossible to fix yourself since they glue the damn display on and that's the only way you can access the parts. Basically it's ok if you have applecare (and sell your device before it expires) otherwise they absolutely f*ck you with outrageous part and labor costs.

You're lucky they recalled and repaired for free, I wasn't so lucky despite my problem being well documented among that particular model of iMac.

That's...surprising to say the least. I haven't heard many stories about apple particularly, but literally every 999 out of 1000 customer service stories i've heard end badly. That's pretty awesome though and i dislike them a little less now for actually admitting they messed up to keep customers and be smart rather than driving them away just to save some money. Hopefully it's all a smooth easy process :)

Just a normal guy with a constant desire to modify everything he owns.

It's also really easy to convince them to not charge you. You basically just have to talk to the manager for about five minutes and you can manage to get almost anything serviced for free...Hell, I got them to replace my 8 year old Mac's charger for free back in August (and this wasn't one of the years where they acknowledged a problem with their chargers).

I agree completely, Apple support is very good. My dad took his MacBook into an Apple Store because he needed them to fix a couple of faults, remove some difficult malware and clean install OSX. They were done within half an hour and didn't charge him anything. Very good.

Apple is very good for service, took my iphone 5 that had one miserable dead pixel on the corner(like most of us, hate them). Went to the store, show the problem. and got replaced right away. (i got my phone with verizon, however went to apple since its their device, also verizon its not a great company for costumer service.)

Not disputing that. And it's one thing for them to "charge" you for a repair, it's something else when they murder you with their outrageous costs. Apple is notorious for charging 3-4x hardware costs + they charge labor on top of it. Meanwhile, 3rd party repair shops would have done it for near half the cost. I ended up paying for $80 in parts/supplies and doing it myself in an hour and a half.
