My friend is building a gaming PC. His only option is to go wireless, Ethernet is not an option. Im not too knowledgeable on this stuff an I want to make sure he gets something that will work.

Does he just plug this into his PCI slot, and then connect to wi-fi like a laptop would?

Will that adapter be sufficient for gaming? Also, whats the minimum for a router he would need to have a enjoyable experience? The PC will be around 20ft from the router, and will go through 2-3 walls.

Gaming - Ryzen 9800X3D | 64GB 6400mhz cl30 9070 XT

Homelab - many servers...constantly changing.

3970X/256GB - 5950X/128GB ECC - 5600G/96GB - 3400GE/16GB - 3400GE/16GB

dude, ethernet from the neareat wall socket, run the cable through the wall.  worth it. wireless gaming is terrible.

also, power-line adapter instead?

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

i have the 2 antenna version of that one(so basicly a shittyer one) and it works ok, sometimes dropps the network and the drivers dont seem to want to install on win10 at all so i dont know how mine is working

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I understand this. That is my position as well but it's either wireless or no internet, it's not my choice.
