Asus vs Acer 4k IPS

Personally prefer 1440p 144hz IPS displays, have you considered that?

not with the horrible scaling, and since you wont be watching much in 4k or playing anything in 4k its pointless

To add too that, the cost/performance for 4K gaming doesn't seem to be worth it (of course depending on what games you want to run at 4k) Personally for me 1080p is perfectly fine, my games all look great and if I went from a 780 to a 970 then I could push up to 1440p, whereas it's what a minimum of 2 970's for 4k gaming on newer titles? I could be wrong (probably am) So that's roughly a $600 minimum spent just to game at 4k. Am I at least in the ballpark?

System: i7 4790K, Hyper 212 EVO, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix, GTX 1070 Super clocked, MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, Corsair RM 750, Corsair 750D (with 2 additional 140mm NZXT fans up top for exhaust.)

144hz > everything IMO also 4k is stupid hard to run at 60 fps+ and scaling is shit. So really no point unless you are professional and need the pixels

with 144hz u still need the 144 fps of GPU to push it to 144 frame rates to be effective too right ?

you still benefit if running at say, 90fps etc, or 70 fps, you are still getting a smother framerate

not all games will run at 144fps , but games like Battlefield, CSGO etc are easy to run and should get high FPS, same as any older games

And its Gsync so if you are not getting the full fps gsync will keep it smooth

I am waiting for the XB271HK model, any idea when it releases in Europe?

Everywhere I read ppl say not to go 4K mainly because of not getting 60 FPS, I don't mind playing at 30+ FPS.

I know if I will buy a 1440p monitor I wont be able to replace it for at least 3 years because of money issue.

I honestly don't know what to do.

Use this one myself works flawlessly.

Don't let people try to sell you on 1440p the scaling is not a issue in my opinion. There is a few instances with a few programs yes but the picture quality in most games is unbeatable.

I just like a OLED TV 1080p vs LED 4K. I had the 1080p for 5 days and returned it for a Sony 4k LED and even though OLED colors are nice you can see a noticeable difference in 4k movies on netflix. In games 4k is way better than 1440p.

Going from 1080p to 4k is a big step, and 1440p is a good middle ground, and its way easier to run,

Also 1440p is still very sharp, dont forget you are sacrificing 144hz just for a slight bump in visual quality, plus OP might not be able to run 4k too well,

Scaling IS an issue still, heck in 3 weeks of testing a 4k laptop, i had countless issues with programs not scalling correctly, yet i have 0 issues on my 1440p panel

Also let me edit my last post. $600 minimum (or so) just to make your machine 4k ready. Add in the cost of a half decent monitor looks like you won't find anything under $460 (based on the quickest google search ever). So that's over $1000 just to play VIDEOGAMES at 4k. You could build a bad-ass machine for that much, or a shit ton of games. Hell you could even get yourself a new 1440p monitor and some new games to play on that 1440p monitor for the price you pay to be able to just play at 4k.

I have the original rog swift. The ips would be great, but not worth it for me. I'd also rather wait for higher refresh rates once display port 1.3 is out before going 4k or at the least when I can get 60fps consistently with gpus.

Thrive on change. Embrace volatility.

I really liked an Asus one I had seen if I remember the model correctly it's an Asus Pb279q. Don't quote me on that though. It's the 4K Asus on monitor the 27 inch.

If you absolutely must have 4k for whatever reason, then do go for Gsync, since you might struggle in some games to get a consistent 60

I'll say that I don't go with Linus's prefrences. As In I won't chose something because he likes it, but based on the content of a review. I put a lot more stock into the things he says he doesn't like about something. I do this with any sort of review I read or watch. I suggest you find a store where you can go look at these monitors in person, which also makes it easier to buy one and if you don't like it, it'll be much easier to return it and try something else.
