You should be fine with that motherboard.

And that headset.  I think you'll need pretty good quality speakers to notice the difference between the onboard an a highend DAC

Since the cloud II's come with that sound card for surround anyway, wouldn't worry about it. The chances of finding an external dac with a headphone port is low and I'm unsure if the mic portion would even work when plugged into a typical dac/amp since that headset has a two in one plug as standard.

Just a note, even when a motherboard has decent audio, it doesn't mean it's amazing. I'm using a 75 dollar USB Dac/Amp from FiiO and even though my onboard is decent since it's from a ROG board, it sucks compared to the external solution. I've also owned the base headphones the cloud II is based on and from personal experience, it needed an amp to really shine.

Onboard audio is still garbage compared to even cheap dacs.  That headset has it's own USB based one though that it's built to be used with.  I'd just use that.  If you ever go with a standard set of headphones, you'll probably want something other than the build in sound of your motherboard.

Thrive on change. Embrace volatility.

Garbage is a bit much. Fact is, onboard from the past few years may be enough for most people.
