GTA V Crash help

lilwic
Go to solution Solved by AzureKite,

Ah, so it's probably one of those issues coming from porting.

No, the directx 11 thing isn't just GTA V, its any game with DirectX 11, Arc was just unplayable from me until I changed it to DirectX 10, it's a driver issue that is being fixed an update at a time. I heard FF XIV was unplayable at DirectX 11.

I need help with GTA V, it keeps crashing. I got through the prologue just fine to go into online, and when i got into online i got to play for 1-3 minutes then it crashed. Now it keeps crashing only after 45 seconds to a minute of gameplay. I checked my RAM and its not maxed out, i'm on lowest settings so i know its not my graphics card or processor, and now i dont know what the cause of the crashes are. It worked perfectly in the prologue without any issues.

Nvidia? I had a load of issues with GTA and Nvidia's latest drivers. Try rolling back to a previous version.

I have an MSI AMD R9 380, i dont think that would be an issue

If it crashes, it's unstable.

yeah i think i put like 40 extra mhz on it, i dont think thats too much to ask for, however the OC has been causing some trouble so i might just take it off.

I currently don't even have an overclock on my 980ti and GTAV crashes from time to time when i swap from single player into GTAO, says something about a kernal and something crashed but has now recovered, the game itself doesn't respond anymore and i need to alt F4. My PC never has any issues aside from this one action that it seems to have issues with :(

This is a known issue with the 300 series. (R9 390 owner here). Try the latest 15.10 beta drivers and don't use DirectX 11, it seems the 300 series cards aren't playing nice with it since launch and still don't that sometimes :(

EDIT seeing a lot of reports saying its fixed for most people on 15.10 beta drivers, I haven't had a chance to test though, I've been trapped in Elite Dangerous.

This and GTA 5 is probably one of those games that's particularly sensitive to overclocks (frostbite engine HATES overclocked cards from what i see)

I had a stable 1100/1700 on my R9 390 and as long as I didn't play DirectX11, GTA V played nice with me for an hour.

ok thanks for the suggestions, ill try them out. oh and one more thing, how do i get the new beta drivers? Would i get them from the AMD site or from the AMD app?

Sorry i had NVIDIA before and only recently switched to an AMD graphics card.

So i put it to DX10.1, and it still crashes. Do i also need the beta drivers with DX10.1 or do i need to revert to DX10.0?
