I need help

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

CPU AMD FX 8310

Memory DDR3 16GB

GPU MSI GTX 980

MOBO M52_M32BC(Socket 942)

PSU EVGA 600W

that is about all i got but if you need more info to determine tell me and ill see if i can find out some more

i would get this and re-use your memory:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($229.99 @ NCIX US)

Motherboard: ASRock Z97 PRO3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($80.98 @ Newegg)

Total: $310.97

Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-10-18 00:14 EDT-0400

This will have better performance than the i5-6400 out of the box, and it's unlocked so in the future you can do some overclocking and get even more performance out of it if needed, but even at stock it wont limit the performance of your GTX980 in games.

honestly this sounds better but you did make sure my compontents will fit such as the mobo fitting in the tower and all the other compatibility etc.

if you want to make sure the motherboard will fit in the case just pick a microATX motherboard, those will certainly fit...i can't find detailed spec for your machine, knowing the size of your current board would be nice but i assume microATX will fit:

ok forget that question but one more thing are you sure that that the cpu will not bottleneck because the mhz are lower than my current or are the mhz irrelevant

You cant compare processors with just megahertz. For example my 3770 at 4ghz will outperform an amd fx 9590 which runs at 5ghz.

Cpu: Ryzen 2700 @ 4.0Ghz | Motherboard: Hero VI x370 | Gpu: EVGA RTX 2080 | Cooler: Custom Water loop | Ram: 16GB Trident Z 3000MHz

PSU: RM650x + Braided cables | Case:  painted Corsair c70 | Monitor: MSI 1440p 144hz VA | Drives: 500GB 850 Evo (OS)

they will not release anything that will be a worthy upgrade to the 6600K on the socket 1151...they never do.

Skylake is only a few % faster than haswell and it's a lot more expensive and this user already own 16GB of DDR3 RAM he could re-use so skylake in this case is absolutely NOT worth it.

payday 2 1920x1080 bf4 1920x1080 Killing Floor 2 1920x1080 everything maxed on all games i have a few other games that i play often but arent worth mentioning so i figured my hardware would be overkill and thats not the case but hopefully the new cpu and mobo will resolve this

yeah...BF4 should run well on your current hardware though right? maybe not 100FPS+ but at least 60FPS consistently?

you will get better performance with a better CPU though, the GTX980 is a very strong GPU and you do need a good CPU to be able to get the most out of it in games.

AMD FX have okay multi-threaded performance, but the per core performance (single-threaded) is fairly low by today's standard and this hurt the CPU performance in games a lot at times.
