Using programming

Hello everyone,

I satred programing today, and with six hours of programing knolage under my belt, I was eager to start making small progerams to test and see what I can do.

The problem is I don't know where to go or what to use.

I am learning JavaScript and don't know what to download or where to go. When I search the net, I'm redirected to sites that want me to enroll in learning code, and I want a program that will let me write programs.

Any help would be amazing!

For Java. I use it for school mainly.

Don't start with javascript on its own. 

Not because you won't get useful knowledge from it, you will and it will translate to to other languages, but start with something that you have to run through a compiler. Much much easier to learn, as it will tell you when you fucked up, JS isn't quite as strait forward sometimes. 

Even if the syntax is different, the core concept transfer, and with a little reference, you can try another language quite easily once you are comfortable with programming in general. .

If you are learning web, I would suggest start with HTML and CSS first.

 

 

If you want to learn other than web:

Back at school our first programming was the basics of Java. There you will learn variables, methods, classes, conditional statements, looping. Master these(and a few more) and you can adapt probably most of the other programming languages.

 

The systax might change, but the logic stays similar - most of the time
