I stopped playing it after like 3 months, but before going on holidays a friend and I started playing again. The events on GW2 are really amazing, this last one was seriously fun. The only problem is that they're temporary and when I get back it'll probably be already over.

Anyway, if you like MMOs then pick it up. It may become a bit boring after you get to max level, but unless you play 8 hours a day and blow through the events in 3 days then you'll always have something interesting to do.

I quit after 2 months. IMO its not for casual gamers. Hardcore gamers might enjoy it.

pros

it's mechanics are different to other mmorpgs
dodge mechanics are awesome and you dont need mana, it's all cool down
simple mechanics will allow you to be able to master the game after a few hours
amazing art work
requires a LOT of team play (fun with friends)
free of excess charges (no monthly fee)
random in game events that challenges everyone in the area (eg. one skyscraper big boss vs everyone around you.)
if someone steals your kill, you will not half the exp with them. it just means the get the same amount of exp as you. (who ever fights the person first gets the loot)
you get exp for helping a fellow player
very customisable players
everyone has their own heals

cons
all classes are so equal to each other (one class vs another class has a 50/50 chance of winning)
no mounts (takes a while to travel unless you pay for teleportation.) (you cant teleport to an area where a boss is near the area of destination.)
repetitive game play.
there is no holy trinity (healer, tank, dps) meaning that there is no uniqueness in any of the classes, all characters are these 3 in the same time.
