Hey guys so i decided that i want a X99 build for my gaming/streaming/recording/hardcore multitasking. i decided on going with the Asus Sabertooth X99 Mark 1. its a really nice board. I went with x99 because the extra cores would help with me gaming and recording with cpu straining programs like OBS. With that said, i mainly play games like Tf2 and CS GO and CoD. These are pretty easy to run games but Valve is updating the game engine next year, which will make it pretty demanding. I also want to play them at 1440p on a 144z screen. I will be playing more demanding games like bioshock.

I have to plan way to go about this:

1.  Go with Intel i7-5920k with a 980 ti EVGA hybrid

This is the more gamer style set up. The 980ti EVGA hybrid has a fan cooler as well as a ail liquid cooler. When slightly overclocked, it can achieve titan like performance. The problem with this is sort up is that i that i would not be able to add another 980ti hybrid cuz the ail all not be able to fit as 2 of those things just don't work. So this mean i would have to put it in another position but the case i am using: the Razer H440 has limited space and mounting location. So yeah.

2. Go with Intel I7-5930k with a 980 stock

This is better in the long run cuz then i would have 40 pic-e lanes. Then i can run 2 graphics card in sli in x16 for both. It would have less graphics power but honestly i am not playing some game game like metro last light. But after Valve impletement the new game engine, the games would be harder to run. With the extra 12 pci-e lanes and extra 0.4 ghz clock speed, i would be more future proof in the sense that i would not need to swap out the processor is not powerful enough in the future. With this set up i would be able to sli another 980 in the future when Source engine games get more depending. I chose the stock 980 because reference cards like the 980 strip lower but the gpu cooler but increase the average temp of all other components. Also, in the reference cards the the hot air is just pumped back into the case but the stock fa design pumps the air out.

I will be lightly overclocking the CPU that i get. I am open to other suggestions, Nvidia or AMD. (Tho i prefer Nvidia because it is lower energy consuming and generates less heat)

Why you cant run two hybrids? And running 2 cards at 16 does not give more performance in gaming. And please, dont compare stock clocks,x99 is meant for overclocking, both chips at 4 ghz will have the same performance

Well i can't run 2 hybrids because they have an liquid cooler with a 120mm radiator. the pipes are on the ends which means that only 1 of them can be connected on 1 length of radiator mounts e.g. 1 hybrid on the top 1 hybrid on front, which looks ugly as hell.

All i´m gonna say is that a gpu doesnt really need more than 4 3.0 lanes to function at max speed ( doubt this will change anytime soon). Although sli requires 8 lanes per card. If you want it just for the lanes than don´t even bother unless youre getting a shit ton of other pcie devices
