Thinking about making a custom pc desk

Any good idea? i'm not to creative.

Was thinking no legs possibly mounted to my wall with L brackets

Possibly a nice varnish finished table top maybe walnut or cedar? or oak? preferably hard wood.

Will be cutting out a little groove in the back so i could put a little conduit for cable management

not sure if i should take my existing keyboard tray and just keep the mounting hardware and make a new tray or if i should just use the table top.

Planning on mounting tiny shelves on my wall for my speakers and a little platform for my case beside it

Case- Phantom 410

Any thoughts?

Updated plans:

- 3/4" x 2' x 4' Cedar plywood table top

i had a large desk built like that. was an old piece of counter top. it is the flimsy thing i have ever scene. its bowed in the middle and the side that isn't against the wall is held up by a filing cabinet cause we didn't want to kill the walls. you need lots of support for the middle and side for it to work.

and this wasnt thin boards this was 1 1/4 inch thick particle board

If you think all console gamers are "console peasants" then you dont belong to the pc master race

but the fan boys on the other hand...

Well when you have particle board and i'm guessing you might have put a drink on it....

which will make it bow

I plan on using plywood with possibly 2 cedar cross beams in the middle to make everything more sturdy so i don't get bowing

Along with 2 strong L brackets to hold on the walls

Here is what I did. I'll probably make a thread about it as soon as it's finished.

I got a $20 door from one Re-Store, and got 2 corner cupboards from another for $8 a piece.

My desk is bigger, sturdier, and better looking than anything that I've seen on store shelves. It's "modular," can support a ton of weight, and the total current cost is $36.

The cupboards provide storage, the hole that was drilled for the door handle provides cable routing help.

I plan to get a piece of glass to set over top, as it's an exterior-style door with an imprinted design.

That's a alright idea question though

Is it a solid oak door? or is it a regular door which is hollow?

I wouldn't trust my equipment on a hollow door that only has about 1/4 of actual board supporting it.

The door is a composite(?) interior door, with solid wood supporting it's frame. The cupboards also provide a base sturdy enough I can stand on it without it moving.

So, to answer your question, it's neither fully solid, nor hollow, but it fits my needs perfectly. I'm sure you could find a used solid door somewhere for a decent price if you needed something different.

I'd also make sure that the cabinets you pick have a good build to them, and are level. I got lucky with mine.
