I was wondering what the difference in performance between one EVGA SC ACX 2.0 980 Ti and 3 Reference 980's would be in terms of Gaming.

The 3 way sli is more powerful,bu has less vram

And it would consume more power. Also something to note is that 3-way SLI isn't particularly helpful in game performance compared to 2-way and that there will always be problems with SLI profiles for specific games and you may get worse performance than with a single card.

Sig under construction.

3 way and even 2 way SLI isnt at all consistent, while it might seem better on paper in practice you are going to be getting fluctuating increases in FPS, bf I get about an 80-95% increase in fps on my 680s, other games you might get 20 or 10%, some you will get 0% and is some bad cases you will get a game not working properly or getting worse FPS in SLI.

System Specs

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x | Mobo: Gigabyte B550i Aorus Pro AX | RAM: Hyper X Fury 3600 64gb | GPU: Nvidia FE 4090 | Storage: WD Blk SN750 NVMe - 1tb, Samsung 860 Evo - 1tb, WD Blk - 6tb/5tb, WD Red - 10tb | PSU:Corsair ax860 | Cooling: AMD Wraith Stealth  Displays: 55" Samsung 4k Q80R, 24" BenQ XL2420TE/XL2411Z & Asus VG248QE | Kb: K70 RGB Blue | Mouse: Logitech G903 | Case: Fractal Torrent RGB | Extra: HTC Vive, Fanatec CSR/Shifters/CSR Elite Pedals w/ Rennsport stand, Thustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Track IR5,, ARCTIC Z3 Pro Triple Monitor Arm | OS: Win 10 Pro 64 bit

3 980s will be way more powerful but there are problems with sli like microstutter and some games not scaling so no performance benefits and etc so it would depend on the game

Do you guys think 2 980 Ti's would beat 3 980's in gaming assuming both systems have an i7 3770k?

In almost all if not all cases, yes.

I'm strongly considering BTFOing my idiot friend who paid $4500 for an Alienware computer by getting a second B-Stock 980 Ti lmao.
