New build? Or upgrade?

Hello
I need some help.

I have a 3 year old computer that is starting to struggle with today's games and such.

My specs:

Corsair Graphite 600T Midi Tower

Silver Power SP-S850M 850W PSU

AMD FX-6100 6-Core Processor

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3, Socket-AM3+

Kingston ValueR. DDR3 1333MHz 8GB, CL9

PowerColor Radeon HD 7870 2GB GDDR5

Intel® SSD 330 Series 120GB 2.5", 25nm

Western Digital® Desktop Green 2TB

Corsair H60 Hydro Series CPU Kjøler

I need an upgrade but i'm really not sure nor experienced enough to know what to upgrade to...
I’m a student so i don’t have loads of money eighter so i don't need the newest or best on the market. If somebody could help me i would really appreciate that.

Kind regards Norwegian linustech fan

I guess you should just get an i5 4460 + a b85 motherboard, (if you can afford to spend ~200USD, not sure how that converts into norwegian crowns) the rest seems fine

Edit: Welcome to the forums!

The problem is that if you upgrade your gpu, it will be bottle-necked by your current cpu, this is why upgrading to an i5 will prevent that issue
