Hey guys,

My 1.2TB Intel 750 Series SSD isn't letting me install an OS -- says something's wrong, but on my WD Black it works just fine. Any ideas?

I've tried it a few times already..

Care to elaborate? Does it show up as a bootable device in BIOS?

There is the issue, find NVMe settings in BIOS.

There is not a doubt that your board is compatible so something is wrong in BIOS if its not showing up as a bootable device, I would try reconnecting it.

It appears every now and then, but it won't let me install Windows on it. I don't really mind using my HDD for booting -- can I use my SSD for applications?

Yeah, there is no real drawback to using the HDD for OS purposes, just slightly slower boot times.

Once you finish your OS install, check if the SSD shows up in Explorer/ if it does when installing programs you simply change the letter drive which is not C: (or D: if you have a DVD drive) and change it to it and let the installation finish. There are some registry hacks to do so but I don't recommend that method, though it takes more steps when installing a program its the safest way to do so. Now in case it doesn't show up in Explorer you open disk management, it should appear there, then format it as an NTFS and set the drive letter. Then Explorer will pop up a Autoplay dialog, you can ignore that, it shouldn't pop up ever again.
