My first real custom PC

jarrettsm99

All my life, I would take multiple computers that somehow are given to me and I would take all the best parts and make the best thing I could get. Couple months ago, I started on my own official brand new PC. No reusing hand-me-downs. I've gotten to the last stage, a video card.

But how else can I make this pc look better? I want to mod the PSU to get rid of the yellow, and I'm going to purchase some custom sleeved cables. Though which color should I get for those? Red/black, all red, red/white, etc. I will do a better cable management job when I get new cables. Over all input about how to make this computer more aesthetically pleasing is appreciated.

BTW here are specs and a picture:

CPU: i7 4790k @4.4 GHz

RAM: 32 GB EVGA @ 2400 MHz

Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Hero

Video card: Currently a 660ti, getting a 980ti

CPU cooler: H100i GTX

Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D

PSU: Corsair RM 750

Storage: 250 GB SSD for windows

Plus various other drives for games and data.

Get the MSI 980 Ti, it'll match your motherboard colour, Also. Get Some Corsair fans with red rings. The PSU is good enough, the colour is not that great. Unless you find a way to change it..

Cable management. Yours isn't terrible by any stretch, but there is still some work that can be done. (esp with gpu power cables and usb header routing).

MSI for sure on the graphics card. The strix is ugly and imho won't match the edginess of the mobo (but that's an opinion). Finally consider removing those extra drive cages you don't need and going with all black fans like the venturi models from fractal design.

I'd do pure black cables personally. I don't like overwhelming red accents (even though red is my favorite color.

Shameless plug to what I consider a gold standard of cable management:
