Laptop for Audio Production

Hey so im buying a laptop for audio production and im wondering what i should be looking for in such a laptop.

Good audio codec, low overhead on the CPU for audio work...

If you're asking me, get the 2012 Macbook pro. The newer MPBs dont have firewire 800, which is what a lot of good audio interfaces use (ironically enough). 

I have one with an i5-3210M, 8GB RAM, and a 1TB hard drive and paid $800 for it. 

I KNOW that the people on this forum don't like macs usually, but for audio, I haven't seen any better laptops. 

Heck, I've been working in audio for years and never upgraded from garageband...

Are you going to travel a lot? Get a Mac 2014 Model. 

The battery life really isn't that bad. I've gotten close to 7 hours in the past few weeks with radios off, DJing, mixing, and mastering on the road. Just watch your brightness, make sure wifi and bluetooth are off, and that you dont have 50 programs running in the background.
