Install linux

Is there way to install linux completly without using the bios. I have weird laptop situation and was wondering if I could in someway download Ubuntu on it and completly erase windows and have Ubuntu on it. I heard of wubi but will that let me do a full install?

Can you not boot into a USB drive? No boot menu? Pretty sure all laptop BIOS's come with a simple UI Boot menu. Just boot into the USB stick that you put the Ubuntu ISO on.

You sure you didnt get a 5 finger discount on the laptop and find yourself locked out of a passworded BIOS and Windows....?

On Windows 7 you can use Wubi to install Ubuntu on a ntfs partition, but this requires windows to stay installed.

No the situation is that my brother gave me his old laptop and I took it apart having a weird plan with it. The problem was while doing so I was convinced that I damaged the monitor and the bios wouldny show up using an external but windows itself would. However this was not the case and I figured out the monitor
