Should I get the Maximus Vi Extreme /w 4790K?

I assume, you only will be gaming on this pc, then no.

Just get 4690k & asrock anniversary.

EDIT: I have one friend, he's always asking me to help him to choose some pc parts, but after that he would buy the most expensive stuff anyways, even if I say him not to fcking do this.

At that point for the same price you can get skylake cpus so I would get that

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

They are not in stock on  amazon.

If you're building right now and have the room in your budget so you're not having to buy cheap parts elsewhere in your build, Skylake is a good choice. Trading a few fps in SOME games rather than getting a more powerful GPU that can make a large difference in you gaming is silly. Going from Haswell to Skylake offers little benefit. Starting with Skylake if you have the budget makes sense.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

unless your plans are 3/4-way SLI/CFX, then no. many other boards that'll be

in a better price point to use savings on other important hardware.

huh? i thought lga 1150 only has 16 lanes and sli requires 8 lanes per gpu so max 2 way sli??

the extreme dated? no, just one of few that can handle 3/4-way GPU configs.

new at $395USD, refurb/used $250USD is overly priced for SLI/CFX.

heck a hero/ranger can do SLI/CFX for $200USD and use the extra for needed

hardware usage.

It only costs around 257 for brand new on amazon.

the M6E uses a PLX controller to "simulate" extra PCIe lanes for

x8 x8 SLI

x8 x16 x8 3-way

x8 x16 x8 x8 4-way

still not worth it unless 3/4-way GPUs. e-peen for monster money.

Well actually some boards provide extra pcie lanes to support 4 way .

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

but the 16 lanes on a i7-4790k can't increase right? so will the third and fourth card just run through the mobo and never see the cpu??

gene or hero? (figure hero since looking for ATX) or holding out for a formula,

ranger, or extreme?

What is the order from worst -> Best. What features would i get in the formula, extreme, and ranger?

Thanks. You have solved my issue. Is mATX = ITX?

nopes..

mATX is usually 4-DIMM/RAM slots and 4 PCIx slots

mITX is usually 2-DIMM/RAM slots and 1 PCIx slot

Couple Questions:

1)  mATX and mITX backwards compatible (if so, could i use the ASUS Gene with the Parvum Case?)

2)  Anything I would loose going for mATX over ATX
