You'll definitely benefit from the 8GB of vram if you doing content creation.

Swapped out your PSU to a fully modular one so that you can put on custom cables in the future to make your pc even sexier on the INSIDE.

After using a variety of prebuilts for some years, I have decided to go ahead and build my own desktop. Does anybody have recommendations on the build and resources for what I should look out for when actually building it?

My budget: About 1500 USD.

What I will use this build for: Video editing using Premiere Pro (as well as other Adobe CC products), 3D graphics work, programming, and possibly some gaming.

I will be running a single monitor, the LG 25UM57-P, with another planned for the future.

I already have mice and keyboards, and can get a copy of Windows.

I am upgrading because my current setup is too slow when dealing with large video files and rendering.

I may, in the future, buy another GPU for SLI, but I am undecided on whether it's worth it.

I do not care about the looks, just the performance for my purposes.

Also, I am not sure whether I will, but if I want to overclock what will I need. I would like everything to be ready just in case, but this is not a necessity to me.

checks out fine, aside from the power supply being mehh.

so, swap out that PSU for something better, (something seasonic or EVGA G2 probably)

something to consider is getting X99 instead of Z170

the 6700K will do amazingly in most scenarios, but in rendering a 5820K (x99 platform) will perform about 20% better.

The 390 has better performance than the 970, and the WD black I think is better suited for your purposes. Everything else are just minor changes.

It's a little pricey by the time I add in the monitor (accidentally forgot to put it in the list and had to edit), but I'll switch to the 390 as well as the PSU and SSD. For the cooler, is there anything I need to know about liquid cooling (how much maintenance?). Is it worth the extra $50? Do I need it?

EDIT: Just noticed the changes, sorry.

Woah. Do you really need that motherboard? I'd spring for something cheaper, since you probably won't use half the features on that board.

That, and everything @Killervolt suggested.

EDIT- You don't need the H100i for a Skylake. The Noctua NH-D14 would be perfect.

I MEANT 16 GB OF RAM. 16

8.1 It's free upgrade to 10 until next mid year so why go 10 with the extra money. Besides, it's only take you around 20 mins to upgrade and you can save a little

Just did a check on PCPartPicker, it flagged it as requiring more power if I added a second 390. Is there a better PSU, or is another 390 overkill?

650 watts should be more than enough for the 390 system, even give you room to OC.

Unless you're planning to add another 390 in
