Knowledge and experience first and foremost, past that all you would need for repairs at a basic level are the same tools you would use to build a PC. Screwdrivers, zip ties, wirecutters, double sided foam tape/velcro.

Most of what is being recommended is just a quality of life thing. Some tools would be necessary should a dramatic repair be needed, but I personally haven't ever come across something I couldn't fix with a software update or a screw driver - I also do family and friend repair as well as building PC's when I get contacted for it.

A phillips head screwdriver and a brain are all you really need.

Tip: Find some OE Dell Vista/7/XP disks. They work with tons of dell models and will pre activate if the model of Dell are on the supported system disk.

This one would be nice. I have a Dell XP disk and it does pre-activate so no keys required.

Most of everything recommended above...
Plus a good therapist.
I swear some people just make you hate humanity.

Especially the ones who blame you if anything goes wrong with their computers, even if it happens years after you've even touched it, it will always be your fault.

Exactly, I also have people like that who blame me for the tiniest thing... I once simply pressed the power button on a computer, it didn't boot... ever again. I got blamed for it because "it was working fine the last time I used it!"
