I fixed a few things for you:

  • Z97 motherboard doesn't make sense with a locked CPU. I changed that to an H97
  • The PSU you chose had some problems regarding voltage regulation. I replaced it with a more reliable PSU
  • Instead of the EVGA 970 I chose a R9 390, because of its better performance and higher VRAM
  • I also changed the fans. These are much better for only 3 bucks more.

I'd honestly stick with the 970 if I were you... My personal opinion NVIDIA drivers are much better, and easier to update.

Drivers are pretty negligible now

Both sides can be equally s**t

Definitely go with the r9 390 if you want a bit more performance.

My Build: i7-4790K, 212 Evo, Asus Maximus VI Extreme, Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR3-1600, Intel 730 240GB SSD, WD Blue 1TB, EVGA GTX 980Ti ACX 2.0, NZXT H440 Blue/Black, EVGA 650W 80+Gold.

Most of the time, it's not the computer, it's the person using it.
