Why would you even bother? Slap Linux on that old tart and be done with it.

Give it a try. Install the 32-bit version.

It should work. You wont know until you try. That being said, it is probably time for an upgrade...

When in doubt, re-format.

You should be able to. However, if you can't, I would not bother upgrading that PC. Install linux on it or build a new one. it would be cheaper to build a new one than to upgrade

Probably not. My dad's 10 year old system with a P4 630 couldn't run it.

Linux could work, maybe even Ubuntu but Windows 10 you may have a different story there my friend.  In the case of any of these you need the 32 Bit version

Try it and find out? I don't think anybody has been brave enough to try it, but I'm sure I read somewhere that the 478 socket wasn't supported for some reason. But go for it, can't run any worse than Windows 7.

Eeh, by gum.

I managed to run the tech demo on a 2004 Pentium M laptop, so it should work though I need to re-install it and see.

It would run, but better to stay on XP and get some good virus software or install lightweight Linux like Lubuntu.

You could try plop boot manager on a CD or floppy disk, then use that to boot from USB

I also had a similar PC, a decade old, Pentium 4, but with 1,5 gigs of RAM. Win 10 installed just fine. But it doesn't exactly run that well, obviously.

Here's the link to the update tool, in case you don't have it:

Windows 10 uses newer CPU technologies. The 'Get Windows 10' app in Windows 7/8, will tell you about the unsupported technologies.

The CPU needs to support: CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW, NX bit (for 64-bit Windows) and LAHF/SAHF, and probably others.
