Hey guys, I wanna know whether its true or not what my parents are saying about NSA. (BTW. I am 18, but I am still living in their house :P). We started a conversation about NSA.

Is it true that e.g. if I write a message on whatsapp or facebook, that for example says ''I hate the american government and country itself as well'', does the NSA deter me from entering the USA e.g. as a tourist? Or do they not see that as a real threat? I am not american, I am european. What my parents also told me, although  I cant imagine that at all, that if I was also writing something like '''allahu akbar'' and make islamic jokes or so that I would also get denied entering the USA or I even get interrogated by the police or so. (i am not racist or anything like that)

What do you guys think? Is this plausible or exaggerated in every way. Sorry, I dont know much about that.

Thanks in advance,

Ihaveswag

Lmao, they're not going to brand you a terrorist because of something petty like that, if they did then someone would have a hell of a job trying to keep everyone out that shit talked them :P

on a more serious note, they are most likely aware that people may talk about the things you mention and that doesn't mean you are a terrorist. maybe if you'd use a mixture of terms you could be flagged but nothing that will prevent you from entering the US

making those statements MIGHT flag you to be monitored, but in reality that is given them too much credit.

There are more FB users today than there were people living over 100 years ago, and the NSA cannot sift through all of that information.  their computers may detect key phrases but yours would be lost in a sea of others making similar statements.

However repeatedly making those statements in conjunction with other key words may put you on their radar for further review.

If traveling to the US you'd likely be fine. Though security now uses computers to randomly select people for enhanced screening; which is why sometimes little old ladies and young children are pulled aside and asked to strip.
