Hey, if I have 16gb (4x4gb) 2133MHz C13 memory and I wanna change 2 of the ram sticks with sticks with 8GB of memory (of the same type), would it be possible?

From experience, I can say that it can work.  Don't know about your specific setup, but I've got 2 sticks of 11-11-11-30 and 2 of 10-10-10-27 all running at the latter (all 8GB DDR3-1600).

 

It wouldn't hurt to make sure they are at least all the same company (mine are).

Yes and no. It can work, but there's always a chance they won't work together if they're not from the same kit. Match the speed, CAS latency and timings to get the best chance of them working together. 

well... theoretically theres no difference between seperate sticks and a kit, except a kit has been verified to work together.

 

its kind of like the oposite of playing the lotery, theres that one in a million chance it wont work...

Yep, it's very unlikely for identical sticks from different kits not to work together, but it can happen. I've had a kit where only one of a set of two sticks worked with my existing set at the time.

on the other side of this pool of experiences: i've seen a system with the following (shocking) memory setup:

- 1x 512MB

- 1x 256MB

- 1x 128MB

- 1x 64MB

 

and the thing worked fine. we had a decent amount of cringe seeing 4 sticks that didnt even come close resembling each other tho...

This reminds me of a calculus question for some reason... maybe with infinite dimms you'll reach the perfect amount of memory :P

we much hoped for those infinite dimms to be a thing, because we needed all the memory we could get in that system...

 

take this: the teacher found that at a dump, and our task was to take a system that supported 64MB dimms, and turn it into a machine that can power a 3D printer...

an ultimaker... it couldnt even load up the slicer becaue of opengl issues...
