do you think ill be able to overclock an i5 4690k with a hyper 212x and a 850w psu? to somewhere around 4.2-4.5 ghz. will my power be enough? as well as thermal limits on a 212x? my rig is in my specs, just switch out the cpu for an i5 4690k. my cpu is faulty so im switching it out.

It depends really. You won't know until you get it and try, no two chips are the same.

What you got on the 4670k will be most likely what you get on the 4690k plus or minus some. Your PSU is just fine for overclocking : D

hmmm, the hyper 212x will handle the temps but it might be a little high depending on how much voltage you're putting in the processor. i don't know, my suggestion is to try it and see what temps you get at 4.2-4.5ghz

 

850W is more than enough.

I'm at 4.6GHz using 1.220v and my load temps are just over 60c, on liquid. So even using air you have a good shot.
