Back to a single GPU?

starting to get burnt out from raiding in WoW again... turned on DA:I for the first time in months and noticed tearing, artefacts, and the shine on the armor looks like water- shitty. ( posted about this a week ago). Was told to disable SLi and it worked like a charm! Game looks 10x better and no noticeable FPS loss running just one STRIX 970 on 1440p.

 

so do I turn on and off SLi depending on what I am playing that day or look into selling both off for a new single 980ti or Fury X? Been reading up a lot on the Fury with the HBM and Dx12 and I own a FreeSync monitor. But the 980ti is best of the best...

 

I'm kinda over the SLi thing. Was fun for a while but I mostly payed WoW hard core for the last 10 months. Picke dup RYSE for 10 bucks last week and want to give that a go as well, but it looks real good with SLi

 

What's my best option here? FreeSync Fury? 980ti? or just able and disable SLi on some AAA titles?

Edit: Oh you own a Freesync Display. Than you should go with the FuryX. Not as powerfull as the 980Ti, but still enough to kill anything in 1440p.

Off topic but WoD didn't really get my attention. Blizz didn't put effort into WoD. BUT Legion seems to be a good upcoming xpac.

WoD definitely sucked need back in because I hated MoP so much. Tier 14 dailies killed the game for me. Been playing since 2005 though... think it's time to give it a rest. I'm afraid Legion will grab me by the balls again.

My theory was that Blizz had to meet their "one xpac per year" quota and they were working on Legion during MoP. They could have mashed WoD and Legion together for an awesome xpac, but to meet their quota, they split it up and made WoD with some sprinkles on top.

 

I hope Legion is good. I really want to get back in the swing I used to have in MoP where I want to play WoW all day non stop but WoD is just making me lose interest in wow as a whole.

Didn't that happen in WotLK? Besides, I got nothing to complain about. I main a DK. Frost too.

 

Man I seriously missed the legendary with this xpac because I was sooooo bored. Didn't bother to find a pug as well.

 

On topic: Yeah a 980Ti should last you quite some time. It's really close to the titan x with a price tag to boot. WoW will definitely run ultra. Higher then ultra even. I have higher then ultra settings on mine. Skyrim should be fine, even with texture mods, it wouldn't hit the cap of the 980Ti. Witcher 3 I would say somewhere in the middle of high and ultra, if not ultra. No Hairworks definitely. Only the Titan X can run hairworks and even then, the fps still tanks.

Frost is gonna be 100% DW and we get piece of Frostmourne next xpac... which is kinda kewl and stupid at the same time IMO. 

 

gold is dirt cheap! I picked up 200k for 55 bucks a few months ago and bought game time and some crafting mats. last patch, people had 5-8 alts with all treasure hunter followers and gold missions were daily and they all made 5-15k A DAY. stupid gold! I am not a alt guy at all and only play my main. its just too much of a pain to get legendary ring up to speed just to be even considered for a pug- unless your guild does alt runs. Im gonna keep the 120k I have left and let my time run out though. friend of mine was just saying how good Witcher 3 is and I should try it again.

 

as far as the 970s, whats a good price for two? less then a year old and never OC'd. very very clean and pampered like the rest of my PC.
