Are My CPU Temps Really This Low?

Really? My old Athlon had 3 sensors >.> - none of which had issues

EDIT: My lappy has 4 sensors >.<

It's a relatively new issue since AM3. It's the way the temperature is read and calculated, not so much a fault in the sensor. It's an algorithm that works with an offset of the detected socket temp. CoreTemp itself has known issues with it, so programs like HWinfo64 are more recommended for AMD.

S939 and AM2 didn't have these issues. And neither did S754 or Socket A but that's because they didn't use a digital sensor and algorithm programmed with offsets.

Yup and both were also AM3. Phenom II and Athlon II didn't use the offset algorithm IIRC, they used standard thermal temp calculation directly based on the heat spreader and socket temperature. The way it should be.

^ It was ALWAYS coretemp (or the widget,the same plugin) that stated 8-11*c.

 

As I liked the program, I kept it (load temps seemed accurate enough)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Phenom II used AM3 and AM2+. Athlon II uses AM3, AM2+, FM1, and FM2.
