Malwarebytes for prevention and scanning, Bitdefender or Kapersky for removal.

There's also the one most people use called Common Sense™

What if a site has been hijacked and has malware running on it, even if it is good site?

That is the issue with Common Sense

Have good firewall settings and you won't care

How do you know?

The good viruses are the ones you don't know you have.

I look in the registries frequently

yeah but I only go on youtube and some other trusted sites, is it worth the upgrade?

Avast and Bitdefender like other people mentioned are both great, and free

Bitdefender (free version):

MSE  is all I use and I don't get viruses

I'm not sure you're aware of this, but your text is showing up in a black font. Dark-theme users can barely read your text.

If you would, use the 'automatic' setting in the color choices which auto-changes your text color across all themes.

If you're copying and pasting, use the 'Paste as plain text' option if you have it (Chrome has it for sure).

What if the virus runs under a common Windows DLL name, but is actually the virus + the actual DLL?

You can never be sure you don't have a virus or malware.

I don't really care what you say anymore as you apparently don't know how to manually check your computer's software, can I be 100% sure no the only thing I'm sure about is that their are no active viruses on my system and since that has been the case for 4 years I think I'm safe to handle it on my own.
