This decision has been killing me for the past. I game a lot, code in HTML5, light video editing, live-streaming, and animate in Adobe suites. I have taken my decision to 2 CPUs.

Should I buy the i7 6700k or the i7 4790k

-I have ruled out the 5820k for money purposes because I feel like the i7 6700k or the 4790k can do me justice.

What are your opinions?

There isn't much of a difference between those CPU's.  Skylake will have a larger price tag because of the LGA 1151 mobo's and DDR4 RAM.  If you do choose the 6700k, I'd just get the 5820k because the price difference is very minimal.  This also might help.

Not at the moment, but I need this to last at least 5-6 years, so maybe. What do you think?

Do you want it to last, or be able to run the latest games on ultra? Two different things. No CPU out right now will guaranty the ability to play any game on ultra in 5-6 years, for all we know you won't NEED a CPU to game in 5-6 years. So do what makes you the most comfortable and have fun.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

SLI 980s?

Why not a single 980 Ti?

If you're doing a SLI build, please go X99.

It will be worth it.

Like I said nether the Haswell or the Skylake is. If you want that kind of guaranty you'll want to listen to jc980. I'm a gamer though, I buy my stuff when it's proven and does the job. You can SLI just fine with ether so pick the one you want. That's the good news, you really can't go wrong. The Haswell gives you bang for the buck and the Skylake is cool as shit.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
