So I received a message in Steam that included a link to a .scr file. I has my suspicions towards the file and I clicked on it. I was then brought to a page in Google Chrome and it downloaded an .scr file. When I found the downloaded file, I right clicked it to see what options I could open it with. Due to an accidental missclick, I ran the file. I've done a bit of research and found out it was a Trojan type of virus/malware. I tried various methods of Malware detection of removal. I first used Windows Defender, then I used a Malware detection tool from Windows and that failed like Defender did. I then downloaded and installed Avast as well as Malwarebytes. Avast found the Trojan and move it to the "chest" or "quarantine box". I thought the way to remove it would be to delete it from the "chest". But to be sure of it's removal, I even ran a scan with Malwarbytes and it said there were no threats. After that, I ran CCleaner to clean my PC to make sure it's gone. With all of that, I decided to shut down and restart my PC. Guess what... it's still here -_- Or so I think it is. With the Trojan installed, I am unable to access Steam Community, my friends profiles, my own profiles, the store page, or anything Steam related pertaining to the buying, or socially interacting with people. I know the servers are not down as I am able to play online with CS:GO as well as any other games that use online. To add in further information, I got the error code -107 the first time when trying to access Steam through the application. Now when I try to access it, I get error code -102. I got this Trojan just yesterday, I want to remove it as soon as possible to prevent any issues or complications in the future. I'm not sure how to properly remove malware or viruses because I'm so used to being properly secured. Anyways, thanks for any help that someone could suggest me.

" has my suspicions towards the file and I clicked on it."

Common sense, sadly not so common.

Well I figured it wouldn't immediately infect my PC. I thought it would be a file that needed to be downloaded first.

Why would you even click it? Seriously, what good would come of it?

Stories like this boggle my mind, Red flags would have been getting thrown in my head when I was 10 encountering shit like this.

I'm asking for help, not unneeded comments. If you don't have a way to help, please don't don't bash on me. Everyone makes mistakes. Which is why I'm asking for help.

Format and reinstall windows.

The only way to really be sure you've got rid of it.

Change your steam account credentials ASAP. Do it through your phone or on another PC if you can't on your PC.
