R9 290, because it performs slightly better

290 but not XFX - revisions 1, 2 and 3 were poop. Revision 4 is fine.

which brand is better?

Sapphire, Powercolor or Gigabyte for the 290

Technically MSI, but the R9 290 from XFX is a better card anyway. Get that one. If you don't want it for some reason, look for another 290 or a 280X cause they're both better than the 380. Leaning heavily towards the 290.
