Im at school and at lunch time id like to listen to a music stream on twitch every day. Twitch is blocked at school and the only ports open are 443 and 80. I used sstp vpn for a while, but after a week of using it, it came up with error 720: error registering computer with network. Lately i used another sstp vpn and a few days later this happend. Now i cant listen to twitch at all. When i get home, the vpn connects with no errors. Anyone know how the isp may be descovering and blocking my vpn's ive gone through 3 vpns now. Also, any way to overcome this?

Just suck it up and deal with it. It's your IT department systematically blocking VPNs and limiting your access to stuff.

Thank-you!

EVERY FUCKING SCHOOL BLOCKS TWITCH!

I got a call from my old highschool to come in and consult on their new network. I blocked all social sites, video sites, 9gag-style sites and whatnot.

School is for learning, not fucking about on facebook and twitch.

Plus, is posting that selfie that important that it can't wait until you get home? Srsly.

Have you tried using a remote desktop tool (teamviewer) they might not block those as they would use them as well. The IT staff may be able to figure out your home IP however really even if you encrypt the network admins can figure out if your using Tor or a VPN easily just by following where the packets go and block.

You should watch out they can also just track you down physically when your in the building too when you roam between APs. Or just by seeing if you access the school's online portal type stuff if you have that. If you agreed to any IT policy or ToS when logging into the network or at any point earlier you could get in bigger trouble as well for constant abuse. Alternatively they may just block you from accessing the internet as a whole which would leave you only access to the schools intranet. If the IT guys at your school are manually blocking stuff they may get increasingly annoyed over time and chase you down big time.

The school Wifi is not likely serviced by an ISP but the school's own network which means they control it and your at their whims basically. Get a very big data plan and stream it over cell data they can't block that without committing a crime although streaming video for long durations will make the cell company throttle you or get very angry as well..

Just get some music on your phone like everyone else does. Sheesh.

One person streaming from twitch might not seem much, but once you have enough people the network gets overloaded and the people that actually need to use it are getting affected.

Odd thing is theres an app called vpn master and it hasnt been blocked no matter how much i use it, but thats mobile, i use pc most, and all my pc vpns get blocked, but not mobile 0.o

It would take more effort as teamviewer is mediated server process that does the nat penetration and most people don't use it as a bypass means. How many high schools have people running around teamviewering twitch its so circular it might not get caught as quickly. But certainly they could selectively block (say by figuring out the actual home IP and blocking that) but if they too use it then they are less likely to catch it as they would generate traffic to it as well. There are also blocklists for vpn's but teamviewer isn't a VPN service. If they use something else (logmein, costs money) it too might be blocked by default.

The ISP is that strict? is the local school IT admin staff not integrated with your district/greater area there may be a larger centrally administered network for schools with a tougher stance on things. If it is just a commercial ISP then they will may not catch teamviewer as it is not a VPN service and runs right over port 80 and 443.

Just never give out your teamviewer ID and password to those stupid annoying scammers that call from india when I always run them around in circles you think they would blacklist me as I also report them to the remote desktop companies with their unique ids.

That's why Remote Desktop should be preferred for school usage

Ok, now THAT is odd. Unfortunately you don't have the authority to take it up with the ISP. In that case something's effed up OR they're acting on previous instructions/politics

They could in theory also be the central IT department serving as the ISP for many schools and wielding a big ban hammer over everyone so not even the local school IT staff can watch twitch while at work. In theory teachers and support staff could also be running under similar restrictions to students for productivity reasons I guess its fair at the very least.

Dots per square inch? I kid, I'm guessing department of public instruction.

Oh I know its a scammer as they spoof local numbers that are quite random and I don't normally get random local numbers calling. I always answer to screw with them and report them and extract information out of them.

Yes we're aware of caller-ID spoofing. TIL that scammers can even spoof "911" and pretend to be a reverse-911 call, pretending to be the police. Most landline telco's have additional features you can request, like auto-blocking "unknown", "private", and "restricted" calls.

I get a lot of expected known unknown, private, restricted calls from oversea family and people who block their own caller ID. Blocking them all would not block the CID spoofers and would block legitimate calls. What Telco's should be doing is filtering digital CID data so that calls not actually registered with their database which is under their own control they block fraudulent attempts to spoof local numbers. They have their own subscriber database all they have to do is match any IP calls from outside the network and block them if they try to spoof a real number with a real line attached to it or no line at all.

There will still be fraud done through registered SIP numbers but then you at least can report them and they can't dance around as much as just plain spoofing the number allows. And they could just dump them all into a VOIP local area code pool so you can at least tell that it is not a local number but an IP phone that could be anywhere.

first of all : you need IT knowledge... how networking works and how a firewall works... and should not do this, it's certainly against any kind of contract with the IT department you had to sign at the beginning of your scholarship there...

secondly the solution in itself : SoftetherVPN setup with tunneling over https and hole punching... slow performance compared to other more straightforward solutions but can burst through anything if the client is allowed to negotiate and validate https certificates itself (so no https proxy)... and even there, you can specify the proxy in softether so it can simulate http headers and go through the firewall... uber powerful tool.

with this, you can bypass any kind of firewall, but be advised it's tricky nd mostly illegal... don't watch twitch at school, learn things there !
