I am getting a new computer for gaming and i am wondering, what is the best brand for onboard audio?

 

Realtek ALC1150 is typically used for higher quality onboard audio. Implementations of it vary, however.

 

Higher end Gigabyte and Asus implementations are generally considered the better ones (they often measure better and have more features enabled).

asus isnt bad at all

gigabyte is good too

If you want the absolute best board for audio, the Asus Maximus VIII Hero/Ranger has a phenomenal audio implementation that has legitimate DAC and AMP chipsets. They onboard is better than any sub $200 DAC/AMP combination I can think of.
