Sound absorbing foam?

My computer is located in the corner of my living room on the floor next to my desk, pretty high ceilings etc means that there can be quite alot of echo in here, my pc is pretty silent and free from vibrations, yet still it seems like the sound (mostly the sound comming out the back) gets bounced around quite a bit. So i was just wondering if placing sound absorbing foam or something like it behind the pc could absorb it and stop it from being bounced around?

I have absolutely no knowledge when it comes to this, so i really dont know if it would work :) Hopefully someone here might know.

it definitely would not hurt to try.  I'd try with some random soft materials like pillows or blankets and see how it sounds before I go buy something just for it

edit:  obviously make sure to leave ample room for ventilation   :)

sure you could do that but i would imagine that if there is a fan back there the air flow would suffer

I recommend something from ATS Acoustics. Their prices seem the best for the types of products they have.

The rock wool panels covered in textile will provide the best results without looking like ass; or if you're feeling cheap they also have the traditional grey foam wedges.

Not really. A sufficient air gap of a few inches would be fine. Note the goal is to block reflections, not completely prevent the noise from getting out of the machine.

That, my pc is backed up against the wall, but obviously with a decently big gap, placing some absorbing material on the wall might reduce the echo. Thanks, gonna give some of those Acoustic panels a look :) Doesnt help that my 770 broke down and i gotta live with a 370 XFX card at the moment, that card sure is a screamer.
