Wifi Card?

I built my new PC and need to connect it through wireless. I have heard about a thing called a wifi card and assume it connects my PC to the internet wireless. If that is the case could I have recommendations.

Sometimes ethernet isn't an option, my college dorm got rid of ethernet in favor of WiFi. I now have to attempt to game on WiFi which adds terrible latency...
