It is for all around usage, so not just gaming.

Drop the 6700 and go for a 6600k... You probably wouldn't be doing intensive things that require hyperthreading if you're only going to be using a 970. Of course, it depends the theme / prompt of your assignment. And in this case, just all around good, you probably won't need hyperthreading.

Drop the 6700 to a 660k

Get a 980

Get an evo 212.

Not impressive when it's not fitting the prompt.

i7s aren't all around good things in comparison to an i5. i5s are adequate for pretty much everything, and they can video edit, just not as fast. Paying $100 more for an i7 that will only really gain you hyperthreading that will be used in specific cases, is just not good for "all around use" for the price.

Not for gaming so

For starters, switch the Skylake i7 for a Haswell Xeon.

Next, you could probably get a better monitor, K+M, speaker setup, or GPU with that kind of $$$ leftover.

I hope you don't plan on assembling this build like this.

So many cheap parts for an expensive build.

Can you split the budget for peripherals and PC parts?

It's for school project, I don't need expensive mouse/kb

Might as well get the most power I can for 1200$

I was about to complement the build and then saw that case xD. Still a good build though, just needs a case worthy of it.

Yeah, just chose the case because it was already in his build and I was already 17 bucks over his limit. Lol It does need a better case however.
