Stock Cooler or nah?

Freeeeezy

For my first build I am getting an Intel Xeon E3 1231 v3, and this CPU, because it's meant for servers it runs a lot cooler and is locked so I cannot overclock it (Which I'm fine with). Because of this, I have decided not to upgrade to an aftermarket CPU cooler for function, but should I upgrade for aesthetics?

The stock Intel CPU fan would definitely be adequate for cooling my Xeon CPU, but would it be worth it to upgrade, to say a ARCTIC Alpine 11 Plus, just for aesthetics and acoustics?

Keep the stock

if temps/noice don't get to your liking then upgrade

It's up to you. If you want to spend money for aesthetics, go for it. Unlike performance, it's not really something we can decide if it's worth it or not for you.

That depends entirely on you.

I think the Intel stock coolers are fine when it comes to noise.

They just look like garbage. But I can not tell you if the looks of it bothers you or not. Only you can see that. So see what it looks like when it's assembled and then decide.

Personally I would get a different cooler just for aesthetics.

Follow your topics. 80 Watts is quite a loot to handle for a stock cooler. If you're not at full load it will be no problem but if you do some serious work ... :/ idk.

a 212 evo equivalent will be quieter and have your cpu run cooler.

I think I'm gonna upgrade for aesthetics. The ARCTIC cooler comes with a white fan which will look really nice with the black and white scheme of my build. Plus it'll be a little better than the stock cooler and a little quieter, which I'm not too worried about acoustics but it's a nice bonus. Only $15

No one can tell you if you should get something for aesthetics. Personally, i hate stock coolers because they never work on me for some reason, and they are loud. But if it's a cheap cooler and it makes you happy, sure, go for it

Well, it's not very different from a stock cooler, i'd say if you're buying aftermarket at least get something with heatpipes

Nah, I think I'll pass on the heatpipes. I don't need the extra cooling power of heat pipes, plus I kind of like the low profile look. It shows the black and white fan that goes with the rest of my build. If I wanted heatpipes I'd get a Cooler Master Hyper T2 and probably change out the fan for a white fan.

But overall, a tower style heat pipe cooler is a little overkill and the ARCTIC Alpine 11 Plus is all I need.
