Something must be wrong with this build!

This is impossible guys, something must be wrong and you must prove it!! I bought a 2500$ PC. I don't understand much about pc's but the guy at the store said it was top tier stuff, best you could get for the money. So here goes, it has a 960 gtx, i5 4460, 8 gb of ram, 1tb of hdd and 120gb ssd. I mean looking at the numbers this is top tier of course but for some reason my friends build is performing so much better like 50fps better in most games. how is this even possible when his build costs 1500$... he insisted it's because he choose each part and did research for 2 months but smells like bs... buying premade computers is obviously better and much safer! I don't remember what build he had but i think it was a 980ti and an i7 6000 something... sure there are higher numbers but the price is almost halve!!! please prove my friend this is true and my pc is just performing bad because of some bug on the graphic card or something!

Basically got scammed by the guy in the store imo.

if you buy from a store you pay fees for store profit, employee salary, manufacture costs, assembly cost, transport cost and some bullshit warrenty tacked on the side. 

 

his build is vastly superior to yours in pretty much every way.

He's probably running a higher resolution like 1440/4k...

There is NO POSSIBLE WAY a 960 could out preform a 980Ti unless the 980Ti Is Thermal Throtteling to death

960 is horrible but the i5 is ok and I am not even sure what PSU ya got so I cannot tell you to buy a GPU, if your PSU is good then buy a new GPU look at R9 390 or GTX 970 as minimum or you can buy a R9 Fury or a GTX 980Ti? :)
