HyperThreaded CPU Question

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

If hyper threaded CPUs can split each core into two threads for twice as many logical cores, does this make the single threaded performance DECREASE by half? I have a 3930k for gaming and running servers. Is having hyper threading decreasing gaming performance in any way?

no, that's not how it works.

I never really looked into how it works. Its just a though I had while I am supposed to be making up my algebra 2 class online. Darn, I went on the forums for the whole class again. Thats three weeks in a row!

ha! It's just school... Jk, I'm at work. I've tried several games with and without HT on my 4790k and everything was within margin of error either way. I think physics scores were slightly different on benchmarks but gaming seemed the same
