i have recently built a amd apu build on the fm2+ socket my current cpu is a a8-6600k which is fm2 (my motherboard supports fm2 and fm2+) and i have just upgraded my psu to a evga 500w psu and my gpu from a sapphire hd 7790 1gb to a evga gtx 960 4gb card and i was to know what would be the best cpu upgrade for the fm2+ socket am toying with the a10 7850k apu but i would like some advice if this would be the right choice.

The best is the A10-7870k I believe right now, but I do not think you need it.

There's not really much you can upgrade to in terms of the CPU power on that FM2+ socket, Athlon II X4 860k is a cheap option but you won't feel much of a difference basically, and you don't need an APU cause you've got a dedicated GPU ;-; The CPU part of A10-7850k/70k is around the same as the X4 860k and it's like twice as expensive.

No point in getting an APU, get an X4 860k if you don't want to change your motherboard, however I'd recommend getting a new motherboard and a new CPU.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

dont bother with apu's if you have a dgpu, just get an athlon 860k and you'll be fine
