As I've posted before, I been thinking of upgrading from my current build to a Intel build. I've came to my final conclusion on what I will get. However, any recommendations will be helpful. now, to the current specs I have, and to what I am changing. Please, remember, what I am changing for is a big boost to what I have and i hope it will give better gaming performance, and last me years. However, I have a question. I won't be buying these upgrades until Christmas / or after. So, by that time, will Nvidia release a better GPU? If they are planning on releasing something that is around 700$ range like a 990 ti, then I rather get that.

Current Build:

  • CPU: AMD 8350fx.
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte.. (Don't know what brand).
  • GPU: AMD 7870 2gb ghz edition.
  • RAM: 8gb Ripjaws x Series.

These three is what I will be upgrading. This is the result>

  • CPU: Intel i7 4790k (For gaming, rendering, streaming).
  • Motherboard: MSI gaming 5. (Has gaming in it, must be good?) * Don't want a expensive motherboard. 150$ or lower is fine.
  • GPU: GTX 980 TI (For gaming in higher resolution and having a beast card cause why not?).
  • RAM: 8GB Ripjaws x Series. (Adding an extra 8gb to make 16GB of ram now that its only 40$).

Just something I came up with.

From what I understand, there will be a 990 GPU but mobile only, from what I've read and heard. You can expect the 990M to have same/better performance than a 980, or closer to SLI 980M.

But this doesn't have any relevance to this topic, as this would be laptops only.
