best "higher end" but reasonable video card to get?

brucelee3000

From the perspectives of performance, heat out put, cooling potential, price(or price delta in reference to another card) and features.  What high end, non titan video card should I be looking at picking up for a build?  Out of everything I have mostly been looking at the 980 and the 980Ti since they seem pretty bonkers in performance along with having some interesting features (like the shield streaming) but I haven't really found anything from the AMD side of things aside from the Fury X which from what I have seen doesn't do that great in performance. But what is the best choice?

Thanks in advanced for any help you guys bring me!

R9 fury

Between 980 and a 980ti for the price of a 980 and should well outperform a 980ti in dx12

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

You listed only the highest end GPU's, so relatively they are not reasonably priced.  Knock it down a notch to r9 390/gtx 970 or lower. performence for dollar is higher at that range.

Now you want the best GPU on the market that's "non-titan", its clearly the 980ti and when comparing the price between the two the 980ti indeed has much more performance per dollar.

For 4k gaming, 980ti / Fury X both perform the same and cost about the same

For 1440p gaming on higher end 980 is marginally faster than the 390X, and costs marginally more.

For 1080p gaming on higher end 980 is marginally faster than the 390X, and costs marginally more.

For 1440p gaming on Mid-High end 970 costs the same as the 390, but the 390 is significantly faster than the 970, and has more than double the usable vram.

For 1080p gaming on Mid-High end 970 costs the same as the 390, but the 390 is marginally faster, and has more than double the usable vram.

Exceptions --

1440p/1080p gaming the R9 Fury is faster than the 980 in some situations, but costs around the same, perhaps slightly more.

The 780ti if you can find one, can be bought for less than a 980, and performs better than a 970 and 390, but will most likely cost more.
