Should I go with 2GB vram or 4gb

lmgaming

For my budget gaming build, I need a graphics card that ether has 2gb of vram which will save me money or 4gb. Is it worth it for an extra 2gb or won't there me that much of a proforman cae change. I'm ether gonna choose the GTX 960 2GB or the R9 380 4GB. Looking for the best bang for your buck card so feel free to reference me other good cards. Thanx

R9 380 4GB if you don't give a shit about power consumption or heat. :) GTX960 if you have a small case for example

CX series PSU's are known for not being reliable iirc but they work fine c: (I have had one for 2 years and it hasn't exploded)

What would u suggest? Brand and series-wise

It depends upon the games you play, the room the PC will be in, and the climate where you live. The R9 380 kick out much more heat, and the GTX 960 won't give off nearly as much. However, the 380X can have 4GB VRAM and it tends to perform a bit better.

CPU: AMD FX-6300 4GHz @ 1.3 volts | CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO | RAM: 8GB DDR3

Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A-DS3P | GPU: EVGA GTX 960 SSC | SSD: 250GB Samsung 850 EVO

HDD: 1TB WD Caviar Green | Case: Fractal Design Core 2500 | OS: Windows 10 Home

EVGA, Corsair, Cooler Master...that's all I can think of off of the top of my head.

Live in London (always shty weather(FREEZING!)) Room is fairly cold and I'll play games like CS:GO, GTA V and Rainbow Six Seige (comes out on my b-day!)

The R9 380 consumes more power and gets a bit hotter, but it's more power and heat by midrange card standards. It's not really that much, it's just that the 960's absurd efficiency makes it look worse than it actually is. A year or so ago we would've compared the 190 Watt R9 380 to a 220 Watt GTX 770 and it would've looked pretty efficient.

As long as you've got a reasonable mid-tower case with some airflow and a decent third-party cooler, I don't think anyone would have any issue disposing of the R9 380's heat.

In that case, I would recommend getting an AMD card, they'll keep your room nice and toasty :D

I would recommend the R9 280X. It's a fair step up from the 280/380 in performance.
