Hi guys

So I have a 4k monitor and a 1080p monitor hooked up and running at the same time

Due to when playing swtor on the 4k monitor I run Netflix on the other

My question is when I am playing games like witcher 3 (no Netflix) do I loose fps having the second monitor plugged in at desktop ??

Maybe, but only a few, nothing to be hugely concerned about

You could just do the test yourself and post your findings. I would imagine however it will be like 1 or 2 FPS max.

If you are running them in SLI its obviously going to draw more power from the cards and in return the framerate will drop, also good to see more SWTOR nerds out there, i feel alone :P

well yes but with your setup i cant tell how much. but you can activate the igpu in the bios and plug the 1080p monitor into your mobo. that way the gpu in your cpu handles netflix and your dedicated gpus can concentrate on all that 4k goodness.

im doing that for years

Desktop Build Log http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/486571-custom-wooden-case-with-lighting/#entry6529892

thinkpad l450, i5-5200u, 8gb ram, 1080p ips, 250gb samsung ssd, fingerprint reader, 72wh battery <3, mx master, motorola lapdock as secound screen

Please quote if you want me to respond and marking as solved is always appreciated.

I would do but I get coil whine from the igpu and it's well annoying

To answer the original question, since it's just sitting there it won't soak up as much performance as you'd think.  I might take up a little VRAM, though, but again, only a small amount.

I would do but I get coil whine from the igpu and it's well annoying

Wait what?

You mean from the PSU?

When I use integrated graphics I get a high pitch squeal like coil whine on a dedicated card

If the other monitor is just plugged in and your just running Witcher 3 you'd see no difference with it on or off. It's kindda just there.

That's probably either from the PSU or maybe even the fan on your CPU heatsink, most likely.

Defiantly from cpu, h110 so not from that, and psu has more than enough power,

Honestly I've had my head inside the pc it comes from the cpu

Then it's coming from the cooler, which prompts me to direct to the Water Cooling subforum for further consulting.

It's not from the pump

If I run a integrated gpu stress test in Intel extremely tuning utility it starts and when I stop the test it stops temps stay the same

It also happened with my session v120

And my air cooler cool master blizzard t2

I'm not very keen on water cooling terminology, I was was thinking it would've been coming from the part that's on the CPU directly (give or take thermal compound).

If I run a integrated gpu stress test in Intel extremely tuning utility it starts and when I stop the test it stops temps stay the same

Then I rescind my previous statements.  Though "coil whine" would not be the proper term, and after digging around this "CPU Whine" is a common thing.  From what I can tell it's either the VRMs or your specific CPU/Mobo combo.

It also happened with my session v120

And my air cooler cool master blizzard t2

Then why did you mention your liquid cooler?  Which cooler are you using when the coil whine occurs?
