780 ti runs way too hot. i had x2 of them running in sli and it was not fun. they worked well, but they would get up to like 80 degrees during games

 970 overclocked and a 780 TI trade blows most of the time, sometimes 780 TI wins and sometimes 970 wins. I would still pick up a 970 though over the two. It runs much quieter/cooler and is more efficient.

Personally, when faced with the same decision I went with the 970 and don't regret it at all.

 

It has more memory, a higher clock speed, and a significantly lower TDP footprint (148W vs 250W) .

 

The 780 Ti does benchmark a bit higher on some games. If you are spending the money, don't get a card from 2 years ago. Its a crime how much they're still asking for that card.
