Im looking for the power house of CPU's. Im going to be doing heavy video edditing, using 3D software and gaming and i want it future proof.

Is this the card to go fro is is there something better?

Without getting into Xeon processors, this is the best you can get at the moment.

Card? You mean CPU? Yes it is good, but if you want even better and have the cash then go for a Xeon

thats the highest i7, from there the only ones that might be a bit better are xeons but wont be worth the price to performance

this is a CPU not a card

and there is better stuff than the 5960X, like an 18 core Xeon which costs $7000

If you are going to do CPU rendering then a Xeon will serve a lot better.

Yeah, a mid-range Xeon E5 would be great. Pair that with a Quadro (or a Titan X) and you'll have yourself a nice rendering rig.

Titan X can't really do good compute - it's Maxwell - original Titan or Quadro

-> there is no such thing as future proof. Trying to reach it will only get you disappointments.

Secondly, if you aren't playing any games then I suggest you get a xeon instead - the 8-core versions are significantly cheaper than the 5960x and you can get 10-core cpus for not much more.
