Hey all,

There's a quite annoying problem that started today;

When I'm just surfing on the internet like reading an article or watching a youtube video, my computer just blackscreens, all fans stop and then it starts up completely again.

That's pretty much the only thing I can say about this problem, does anyone know what might cause it and what the solution may be?

Thanks!

That is weird then, what PSU do you have and how old is it?

Do you have another PSU?

Someone mentioned that the PSU could be failing so if you do have another one you could install it and see if you get the same issues.

I do not own another PSU at the moment... Is there any other way to test if it is indeed the PSU?

Without another PSU I'm really not sure and hell, it may not be the PSU.

How long has this been happening?

It started today, system has been running fine since it was build a little over a week ago.

EDIT: First my screens turn off and then the computer turns off. Possibly a GPU problem?

I can't think of anything to try at the moment, I've been quite lucky with computers and never had any real issues so I can't use my past experiences to try and assist.

Have you setup your memory times manually in the BIOS? Sometimes auto memory timings can cause this even when auto sets them the same as you would manually. Although since this just started it's probably not the issue, but it's still best to set memory timings manually.

Edited: Also you might want to check if there's an updated BIOS from your motherboard manufacturer, and of course check to see if there are any Windows updates & GPU driver updates, if you haven't already.

I think I might have fixed it, will post here if it does it again.

I decided to open up my case to see if anything was wrong. I started it up and after a while I wanted to control if every power cable was doing well.

So I saw if every cable was plugged in correctly by touching it (of course not the smartest thing to do when your computer is running) and the 24-pin cable was kinda loose (has never gone into the connection well D:) and when I touched it, the computer did the restart thing. So I turned the PSU off and pushed the 24 pin more into place and made the cable less tight.

It hasn't done it since then, I hope it won't do it again :p

Thanks for all the help!

That sounds about right. I doubt it will happen again now, but if it does, just double check all the cables so we can rule that out. The only other things that would cause something like that are CPU, RAM and motherboard, so if it continues to happen it's probably a major issue. Report back in a a couple of days if it works (or if it doesn't).
