I just wanted to ask this here even if it seems a silly question to ask so I'll have no doubts moving forward.

Things I currently have in my possession:

- Windows 8 installed on my PC

- The very same copy of Windows 8 on a flash drive ready to install from the install from a flash device service

- The Key

I have this same version of windows 8 installed on my PC right now but I installed it on my data drive instead of my solid state drive by accident. So, what I'd like to do is just format my data drive and re-install it on my SSD. No problem, right? I'm just afraid that if I don't deauthorize my copy of windows 8 then, when I try to install it again on my SSD it will say that my key has already been used up. Am I worrying for nothing? Please just ease my mind. Thank you.

You're worrying for nothing, you can call microsoft and get your key all fixed up. Just tell them you replaced your motherboard, it will be easy.
so it still requires a call to Microsoft, huh? Cheers to being on hold for 4 hours lol

As Hellech says - it most probably will just work. But if not, you call the number, punch in a verification code that your PC will give you, it gives you back another code you punch in and voila. Done. Have had to do this many times on Win XP OEM rebuilds.
