Is getting a dedicated network card worth it when i have a "premium" motherboard with onboad NIC?

Title really says it all here, Was wondering would it be worth me buying a dedicated NIC for my pc and if so what benefits could it bring?

PS: Not interested in 10 gigabit Ethernet atm, too poor.

agree with these guys, its pointless unless you have internet thats crazy high like 1Gbps.

 

what motherboard do you have?

I buy high end mobos and for kicks I got that 30 dollar nic from intel and found that my ping was lower across the board by 5. worth it? no not really but was just for kicks.

If it has on board intel 1gb the only reason you wold need more would be a local storage server

Not at all. Unless you're going 10gig, or have problems with your onboard NIC.
