hi guys, I've almost completed building my first gaming pc,

which the specs:

CPU: i7-4790K

Cooler: Kraken X61

Mobo: MSI Z97S Krait edition

RAM: 16gigs of Kingston FuryX black

GPU: sapphire R9 390 nitro 8GB

Case: NZXT Phantom 530

PSU: Corsair RM750

storage: 1TB seagate 7200RPM + 240GB SSD

First of all, I'm having a bit of a rough time building it, because it is my first time, I can only follow what I saw online, and I can't really be sure if I'm doing everything right, for example:

I had to put relatively a lot of force on the mobo to align it with the screwing holes, and also to fit the metal plate of the GPU to the case (I really hope this is normal)...

Also I heard a bit of a creaking sound when I put the CPU in and closed it ...

All this aside, I think I've installed the rest correctly, all except the PSU because the screws don't fit in ... -_-

So this has been a lot less enjoying as I thought it would be ...

But now my real question is: what do I do when I finished building everything?

do I first install the disc that came with the motherboard or the OEM first ? (windows 8.1 builder version)

Also do I have to put the disc in manually (by opening the driver with a paperclip) or can I power my system up and press the opening button ?

As you can see I'm kind of a newbie to all of this and I'm kinda lost ...

Any help is really appreciated,

thanks in advance ...

Don't install anything off the included GPU driver disk - that's garbage since those drivers are from 2012 - install all drivers from the websites of the manufacturers - only the windows install CD should be installed. You can open it up once you boot up the system.

Try  to get the PSU installed first though - the holes should aligned - not every hole in the back is meant to be used - there should be 4 in use and no more.

ok thanks, I'll install windows first...

for the screws, It's not the holes that are the problem, but the screws which came with the case that should be used for the PSU don't fit in the holes, they're too big it seems ...

The noises and restrains you ahd while building sound normal. ;)

There should be screws included with your PSU, they will fit. If not, there must be somne included with your case.

You can just press the DVD reader's button, it function without drivers. :P Install maybe the ethernet driver, since you can't downlaod and isntall the latest drivers from the manufacturers without internet. ;)

Then just go down the list of drivers that are included on the DVD, see which one make sense to install (don't install toolbars, duh!) and try to get the latest version online. You can google drivers if you're unsure about whether you need it or not.

Also don't forget the driver for your AMD GPU.

Once you're all done and everything runs fine you should consider overclocking your CPU and GPU to the max. ;)

who cares...

Just make sure you get the latest (15.8) driver for the GPU - It's a beta driver but don't let that fool ya - it's perfectly stable - more stable than 15.7 even.

Congrats on your first build.  Yeah, the first one can be a bit intense with you have all of that expensive hardware and things fit so tightly.  No worries though.

Make a thumb drive with the drivers from their respective websites so that you get all of the latest ones.  Load your OS first.  Then your motherboard drivers, then gpu and then update your OS.  Although the OS will find drivers with windows update, it can take forever.  You are better loading them yourself. Good luck.
